Any film body that offers Programmed exposure control and/or Shutter
Preferred Automatic exposure control will control the lens without
using the aperture ring. That was the whole idea behind the "A"
setting on the lens. Even a low end 80s era camera such as the P50
will do this, the Super program or Program Plus are higher end
examples. What you lose with these cameras when you take off the
aperture ring is the ability to shoot in manual exposure or aperture
preferred automatic.
