The 55 is a bit sharper at all apertures except those wider than f 1.8. You'll find it to be very similar, (hell Identical), to the f2.0. The 50 is still very nice every bit as good as every other Pentax 50 f1.4. The only real advantage of the 55 is that on a cropped sensor digital it makes for more of a classic portrait lens, if you care to use it there as well as on your screwmount collection.
