I find that the A50 1.7 focuses okay, but it's much slower than my DA
18-55.  Lots more hunting and pecking before it settles in on a focus
point.  However, once it does pick a place to focus on, it's pretty
much bang on.  I just figured maybe that slowness was because it was
either an older design or because the zoom was designed for digital
bodies (I don't know why that should make a difference, but maybe it
does).

Whatever the case, it's wonderful using it as a manual focus lens, but
I wish there was some sort of grip or texture on a larger focus
ring...
