A bit more than a pound, nowadays. At the Amgen Tour of California one of the major suppliers (Cervelo, perhaps - not Trek, anyway) has a bike hanging on a scale in their booth. The scale reads 13lb 8oz. These days the hunt is for ounces. The latest trick is in the system used to track the position of riders on the road. It used to be a little transponder carried by the rider, but then somebody had the bright idea of going to a passive system (rather like the security cards used to gain entry to many buildings), and putting the support electronics in the team cars. Apparently the extra weight of the battery and associated electronics was worth moving off the bike. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
