Back when I read Bicycling Magazine (over a decade ago) that's exactly
what they said:

It's idiotic to pay thousands to shed a pound or two (or now,
multi-thousands to get those last few ounces off!) when the vast
majority of cyclists could stand to lose 10 pounds off their gut.
