as if to prove your point, one of my friends has recently taken
possession of a handmade, custom-fitted bike. He is training for a
multi-day 100+ miles per day challenge ride. He had the bike made &
fitted in France, where he is from. It was then taken apart and flown
here, where he put it together again. Together again it was not so
well-fitted because he didn't have the skill  to tweak it correctly
himself, so his long, long training runs were very difficult and
painful. As soon as he had the bike refitted properly it has become
the dream-bike it was intended to be.
