Yeahbut... MDR covers a LOT of area! If you only work your way up and down the shoreline, you've got a few miles of walking. Covers a lot of territory... On the other hand, if you have a full day to use up, DO bring your camera and a good zoom lens. At least 35mm-75mm, Down to 28 if you can, up to 100mm + if possible, You'll find subjects for all ranges. Bring your walking shoes. Almost any place has cabs available, or you can easily find a phone and call one. Cab fare to and from your hotel will be minimal. I live a couple miles north east of MDR, and a cab to the airport is only $20. Venice beach boardwalk on a weekend is a must! It's long, north to south, but worth it. North end nestles up against the south end of Santa Monica beach activities, and the south end leads directly to Marina del Rey beaches. Hardly any break between the two, but...if you're a dedicated walker, you can do it in a long day, north to south, and there are plenty of eating and drinking places along the whole stretch! Good luck, and take a lot of photos! keith whaley Local resident for over 40 years! > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Rick Womer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: LAX trip: worth carrying the camera bag? > > >> I have a trip next week to a meeting in the luxurious >> LAX Marriott. >> >> Looking at Google Maps, I observe that the beach is a >> long 3-mile walk.
