In this case it probably means both. The A* is identical to the M* 300 in every way including performance, which is very, very good in my experience. It is however a very compact lens and it does have it's limitations. It isn't particularly close focusing, well that does seem to be it's major limitation. The example I showed was a real world shot. I started to enumerate the reasons why this shot wasn't perfect but gave up. I don't know why I respond to any of JCO's posts even at third hand, he's always finds the dark cloud around the silver lining.
