The Camera Raw v4.x plugins do not execute in the Photoshop CS2 environment, only up to v3.7. However, the cache directory and plugin Preferences.xmp paths and files are the same, and the plugin's controls are identical too in this respect.
I tested it on my system and it seems to work as expected, with a small improvement in performance. I didn't try to move the cache location, however.
