I was with you right up to here. I think you need different sizes of working bags, like everything else. When I'm at the track, for example, I'm often a long way from my vehicle or anyplace else to use as an "equipment base camp". I have to carry the entire kit on my person because I'll only get back to my vehicle or something at lunch and dinner. So, my Domke F2 is stuffed with *ist D, K10D, 200/2.8, 300/4.5, 16-45/4, 50-200/whatever, EF-500 flash, spare batteries and memory cards, and maybe two pounds of assorted tools and stuff. Plus, I'm carrying a 400/5.6 mounted to a sturdy monopod (it can double as a blunt instrument if the local fauna gets rowdy :-) ). I'd also add that the working bags should have the ability (maybe optional) to be secured around the waist as well as over the shoulders. Helps keep it from flopping around when you move and generally makes a lot of one-handed operations easier. One of the bag makers, I forget who, also offers a sort of strap that can hang the bag from your back like a backpack. The picture was kinda small, but it looked like it hung the bag from a single point. That's bad because it means the thing will flop around a lot side-to-side unless you add another strap. Make it so it hangs from two points if you're going to offer a "backpack option". -- Thanks, DougF (KG4LMZ) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
