Think Tank Photo has been around just a year or two. The founders are
a photojournalist and an ex-lowepro bag designer, I met them at an
SFBAPPA (San Francisco Bay Area Press Photographers Association)
workshop last Fall.

The designs are very good, very usable, and not overwhelmingly large
or bulky. No one bag is perfect, but the Urban Disguise series is
versatile and usable. The UD50 (second to the largest) is just right
for my needs when I'm carrying a largish kit and the laptop ... I've
traveled cross country via plane and train three times with it now:
it's about the best I've found for my needs in transport and still
useful for field shooting with a large kit.

It's not quite the field oriented "shooting" bag that the Domke's
are. The Domke's canvas construction and sensibly laid out pockets/
flaps/etc for shooting make them my favorites overall.

But I haven't found the bag I want yet. I have some ideas about how
to integrate the basic design of the Domke F5XB (one of my very
favorite bags, but a bit tight on space for my needs today), the
superb gusseted overflap and closure hardware of the Billingham L6
(THE best top-flap hardware I've ever seen ... makes zippers and
velcro, latches and snaps look stupid), and the Domke F803 and UD50's
excellent layout of pockets and compartments to make "the bag of my
dreams". All in heavy canvas with sensible but not over-bulky padding.

Yes, Amita ... I'll send you a design brief as soon as I can get to
it. ;-)
