I have found the Sigma 10-20 very resistant to flare.

The sun was behind very thin cloud in this shot,

tell this by the water reflection. I am satisfied :)

One thing I would consider is what you want to use the lens for. For
me, wide angles are generally for landscape photography and this
introduces an additional issue to consider - the sun... The Pentax SMC
coating has always been far better than Sigma at avoiding flare and
ghosting and for this reason alone I would strongly consider it.

Don't get me wrong - I have a lot of Sigma glass and many of the EX
lenses are great but these particular lenses are going to have a bug
hunk of glass catching the sunlight.

I think these are both very fine lenses, and neither would be a bad
choice but my money would be on the Pentax. Mind you I also buy my
Pentax gear from somewhere that give me a free 3 year guarantee which
helps.

Hi list!

I am planning to buy a WIDE angle lens. I am hesitating between the
Sigma 10-20 and the Pentax 12-24 (maybe Pentax 10-17 Fisheye)

As the price the Pentax 12-24 is almost 2 times as the Sigma 10-20 but
as I read the reviews both are good lens. Actually I am wondering if the

Pentax one worths it's price compared to the Sigma one or should I go
for the Sigma? Is there any noticeable IQ or CA advantage to the Pentax?

Some says the Sigma becomes best if stopped down... but I would like to
have a lens which is good at wide open too.

So any advice? Is the Pentax that much better than the Sigma as the
price shows or not? :D

Thanks,
.t
