Ooohhh! I love canoes. We have a lovely red canoe we got each other as a 10th anniversary present, almost 21 years ago, and we love going out in it. Last summer we had my grandfather's 1906-vintage Old Town rehabbed, and it is lovely. I'll have to post some pics sometime.
Your Black-Throated Diver looks very similar to one of our Common Loons. The loons' calls are amazing and lovely on a quiet lake.
