My hard drive has the death clicks. Previously I had a couple of noisy (clattery) startups but it has run quietly so I've just left it on full time. Today the clicking has become almost constant. What do I need to do or get (apart from a replacement HD) to "clone" or "ghost" the OS and software over to another drive? I want to avoid a clean install because of the enormous number of updates between the build version of XP that I have on my backup discs, and SP3. I also want to avoid having to reinstall and configure my other software.
Should I leave it on despite the clicks? I worry that if I shut down it won't reboot. It's Win XP Home.
