Anthony, Are you 100% certain it is the hard drive that is producing these clicks? May be it is one of the fans?
I should also mention, that for the future, you'd consider portable applications. My WinXP uses all together 2.1 Gb of space with the programs that I cannot use in portable mode. The rest (few GB) are on the other drive and they are portable, so that I can easily backup them just as a bunch of files. Just my cents...
