Thanks, Charles! I had never been in Berlin before. My wife was last there in January 1982, to do research for her PhD dissertation in history in the archive in East Berlin. She had to stay in the west, and every day took the UBahn through the checkpoints and past the submachine gun-toting guards twice a day. She only had to stay two weeks, though. She was amazed on this recent trip.
