Personally, I like the newer one ('249) better. The overall emptiness
of the space contrasted with the handful of people in the deep
background and the person in the foreground give scale to the space and
the building. The emptiness of the space and the looming mass of the
building work in contrast to the diminutive scale of the crosses and
people. A sad, somewhat forlorn or contemplative mood, which seems
appropriate for that place.
Most of that stuff is there in the earlier photo ('895), but in much
smaller doses.
