There are (or used to be) instructions on the net for modifying a dead
625 cell with a Schottky diode so that you can fit a (smaller diameter)
675 cell inside the 625 casing.  I did this once, using a kit I bought
on EBay.  It worked, much to my surprise! However, doing the
modification to the 625 cell was at the limit of my ham fisted ability,
so I've never bothered again.
