Wendy - Unfortunately for the state of my bank account and my credit rating, I don't usually consider whether a purchase is "worth the money." rather, I think in terms of "how badly do I think I want/need that . . ." As one rule of thumb, when you need the specialized tool, be it high viewpoint finder or macro lens or GPS-activated shutter for sequence shots in a cross-country drive (I made that up, but it might be interesting . . .), when you need the tool, it is worth what you had to pay for it. If you can get by without it, then it is not worth it.
For me, the more serious question is, is it worth the extra space, weight, and awkwardness in handling to use the high viewpoint or other special finders on the LX. I have them, when I really need them they are really wonderful, but each extra gadget adds a bit of nuisance and detracts just a bit from the smooth capture of what I see. > From: wendy beard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Date: Fri, 07 Dec 2001 23:04:55 -0500 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: monopods > > At 21:04 7-12-2001 -0500, stan wrote: >> On the other hand, if you are sitting in the spectator section at the >> agility trials and merely panning back and forth with the 'pod holding the >> camera at eye level, life is better.
