Paul, Guess what - I just did exactly the same! Took my camera into the shop. Looked at both and went for the 479-4 The salesman went into the stockroom to get the boxed monopod. Came back brandishing a box and said "I forgot to ask if you wanted black or chrome"' I replied chrome (the 4 section I looked at was chrome and the 3-section black). He'd decided I''d prefer black.
