OT: Need Tech Help, Wireless Internet

I have a chance to do a four day gig for the New York Times, but I  
have to be able to upload jpegs to an FTP site on the fly. I can't  
count on finding a wireless zone. The Times guy said their  
photographers use Verizon. Does anyone know how that works? I've seem  
devices that plug into a USB port, but I didn't find them on Verizon's  
web site. I need help. Right away!!
