Related sensor, not identical between the Sony and the D3x. Same basic
sensor sites but pretty much everything else (microlenses, AA/IR
filter, all the output stages) are different. You won't be able to
predict IQ of the D3x from the Sony (which is a good thing, the Sony's
a good camera, but has some shadow noise issues even at low ISO's and
doesn't resolve as well as the 21MP Canon's, like due to the AA filter
being overstrength)

ZA lenses are made by Sony (most likely, possibly Tamron which is part
owned by Sony) to Zeiss designs and QA.
