Definitely true on the output stages (Sony uses an oddball setup with an ADC for every column of pixels on the A700 and A900, Nikon uses a traditional channelized output, compltely different designs). Almost assuredly true on the microlenses and AA filter (both of which Nikon is known to specify when using Sony sensors, Nikon buys enough sensors to make customized variations practical). The only camera Nikon ever made with a truly stock Sony sensor was the D100, the D40X, D60 and D80 got a stock sensor with a different AA/IR filter. Everything else that used Sony sensors got a custom sensor. -- M.
