I don't have the 14/2.8, but I believe Bill does and Godders used to
own one. I have the 12-24/4. While it's a stop slower, I need the
extra FOV for car and house interiors. It's an excellent performer,
even at 12mm.

I have a pro friend who was shooting Nikon. I believe with a D3 and

Sigma and the Zeiss Planar lenses that are available for it. He
says it's the same sensor as the D3X. And he wanted the in-body
shake reduction. I fondled one of those Zeiss lenses -- a 135/1.8.
Beautiful. And a metal hood. Gadzooks. I've read that the lenses
are not actually made by Zeiss. But they sure look good.
I think you mean full-frame "Sony", not Sigma, right?
And I expect you're correct about the lenses not being made by
Zeiss. I think they're real Zeiss designs, though.
BTW Paul, I believe you have the Pentax 14mm/2.8? If so, what's your
opinion of it? I'm interested in a wide angle for the K20D and that
lens may get the nod. I've slowly been ruling out other options:
I've become a big fan of the recent Sigma EX lenses and the 10-20
has an amazingly good reputation, but it's way slow (f/5.6) at the
long end. The Pentax 12-24 is a wee bit slow and only goes to 12mm
at the wide end and it's a little pricey, but at least it's constant
aperture. I'd been hanging my hopes on the Tamron 10-24 but early
sample shots are *very* disappointing, so unless they're from dud
lenses I'll have to rule it out, too.
So though it's not as *really* wide as I'd prefer, the Pentax 14/2.8
looks promising: Much smaller and lighter than the zooms and
significantly faster.
I'd been hoping that Pentax (or someone) would make a 10mm or 12mm f/
2.8 prime, but I really do expect larger sensors to be on the way
(even for Pentax) so I doubt we'll see anyone throwing R&D money in
that direction at this point.
