The BBC has a different heritage. I'll bet the Blair government wanted
to, based on some of the stories I listened to...
And I'm sure the Thatcher & Major governments liked them even less.
But my point is that NPR, which is NOT actually "National" doesn't seem
able to fend off political interference, while the BBC, which IS, does.
