Not even that. There's two ways teh indexing will work. Generally the camera will start at the next file number if there's any files on the card with the appropriate names (ie if there's a IMGP5647 on the card, the camera will number the next shot IMGP5648). If the card is empty the camera can be set to either start at 0001 again or start from the last remembered file number. The latter is the default but it can be screwed up if you stick the empty card in another camera of the same brand, shoot one or more frames then go back to your camera with the no-lnger empty card. My D300 got a 2000 shot jump on the filenumber counter that way. -- M.
