now I know what the video is about, i saw it on a TV program
questionning the taste of it all ...

it's true we"re a bit touchy when it comes to the Nazis ... but then we
have good reasons for that ... and a lot of them are still alive if not
kicking ..

German and French law (Particularly German) is sensitive to certain
portrayals of the Nazi's. The movie itself is pefectly legal, but the
satire using that clip is at best legally questionable and Youtube has
a tendency to err on the side of caution with this sort of issue.

I guess you are trying to say that it's against French and German law
to provide content about a certain movie depicting a certain dictator.
That could well be, I do not know French and German law as well as you
do. :-)
OTOH, it could also be a precaution to avoid *possible* future
lawsuits based on *interpretations* made by lawyers keen to serve some
clients. Whom are also part of a legal system. In my country, it is
often referred to as "american conditions" when someone try use the
legal system to achieve monetary compensation for so-called personal
offence. Sadly, we see more and more of it. Not to the level of
nominees for any Darwin award, but catching up. :-(
But again, I *do* understand the French/German stance; up to a certain point.

I can understand that the Germans are a bit sensitive about that
particular part of their past. What I don't understand is why YouTube
has to enact censorship on their behalf. But then again with the
American legal system being how it is, I suppose they can't afford to
take any chances.

Youtube, being a subsidiary of Google, does business in France and
Germany and must therefore obey their laws regarding content served to
anyone using German or French registered IP's.
