Thanks for your reply, Paul.  Yes, I did think it was just that.
However, there have been a few who totally dismiss what some of us have
tried to do, and that does "sting" just a bit.  ("No good deed ever goes
unpunished." - <g>)

It is definitely true that one cannot really tell the whole story of a
lens from a few compressed images displayed in a browser, but there are
~some~ things that do show through, I think.  In any event, most
attempts by someone to illustrate the characteristics of a lens are at
least somewhat helpful, especially if annotated from looking at the
actual original images, as you did point out.
