Oops. Well, I've been dicing with disaster for a while now by not having a viable backup for my photographs, so I intend to buy a network drive to use as my main photo storage, then use the current usb drive as the backup, plugged into the network drive. I've no current plans to do any offsite backups, but portable drives are so cheap now that I may buy 2 or 3 to rotate as weekly offsite backups. Most of the Lightroom books that I've seen contain good, simple advice about backup strategies - well worth following.
