I had some luck with scale model glue - when I still had time to build
scale models we often made our own glue with scrap plastic and xylol -
sometimes I had to add reinforcements like glass tissue or long fibers
(roving). Once I glued my kid's model train with cianoacrilate and paper
as reinforcing fiber - tried that just to keep him happy but it's still
fine years later.

Well, i did it and I can't blame anyone else. I dropped my DS and it
came down on the lens shade for my 20-35 lens. It didn't shatter but
it did knock a piece out of the mount circle. I have the piece. Has
anyone had success gluing these plastic shades and are there any glue
recommendations? BTW, lens is fine......phew
I've had LOTS of experience trying to glue a plastic lens hood back
together. That's because nothing works.
I've tried everything from duck tape to epoxy to gorilla glue to super
glue.
Gorilla glue worked the best. Held it for almost three days before the
joint failed again.
