I think what Cotty's trying to tell us is, smokers manage to mirror each other's
posts with their tales of quitting.
I was once a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker, tried to quit uncountable times, twice for
13 months, and fell for the old "One cigar won't hurt me" ploy that has
apparently done a number of us in!
The last time I fell off the wagon, I peaked at about a pack and a half, but
finally quit about 10 years ago.
I needed the help of Zyban, a mild anti-depression drug. It worked miracles for
me!
I must say, without *total* dedication, a hooked (addicted) smoker will NOT make
it. Zyban was just enough of the edge I needed to maintain, until 2 or 3 months
later I could go off it entirely.
As I say, over 10 years now, but...I cannot touch a smoke, the rest of my life.
I know that.
By now, even the then-constant urges have tapered off so I'm not stunned when
one shows up! You know what I'm talking about... :-D
Good for you! Best thing you could have done for an overall improvement in your
health (and longevity!) Be proud!!
