DSLR actually stands for Damn Sh**ty Lousy Reliability, regardless of who the manufacturer is.
(That said... (knock on wood)... I have had no failures in 15K exposures on my istD and K10D). Note that Canon has extended its warranty on their 5D to cover mirrors trying to escape from the camera...
