I've got the manual focus version in PKA fit and the AF version, both very good
optically. I've tried three seperate FA* 24/2's and went back to the Sigma. The
FA*24/2 was too soft at the edge until f/8, and although very well made too big
and heavy for my liking. I find the manual focus version well made, mainly
metal, the AF version is not as robust but decent. Fast and noisy AF, good
close focus, I've never had any problem with flare. Tha AF version forms part
of my main (serious) lens kit:

Sigma EX 10-20
Sigma 24/2.8 AF Super Wide II
Pentax FA 28/2.8
Pentax FA 35/2
Pentax FA 50/1.4
Tamron Di 90/2.8
Pentax FA 135/2.8

I'm hoping to add the DA70/2.4 in the not too distant future. You can find a
test on the Sigma at the following URL:

John

I have one of those (the AF Super Wide II version). It is a very good,
sharp lens, mostly made of metal. It focuses really close (18 cm.), and
AF is fast, though noisy. I had a FA* 24 mm 2.0 and this Sigma is almost
as good as the FA was, being the main differences flare control (SMC
coatings win hands down, this Sigma 24 mm. flares a lot) and speed, of
course. I paid 100 euros for this lens 1 year ago, in like new, boxed
condition.
