I went out for a few minutes after lunch to play with some other
compositions. Unfortunately, the parking lot was full, also the sky
was overcast. I just used the 18-250 to try various things, and if I
have an appropriate length prime may use that for whichever
compositions tickle my fancy.

It has also occured to me that it might be fun to get some shots at
night using flash as a way to isolate subjects. It's too bad I can't
just teleport Dave and his D700 out to California.

Either of these will show the pictures, depending on your viewing

Comments and suggestions, particularly regarding composition, are
appreciated. I'm happy to take them off the list rather than boring
the whole list with the game of collaborative composition.

The cherry(?) trees are starting to blossom, and in a week or two
the pink could add some very nice counterpoint to the red, yellow and
green.

Unfortunately, once again, John's 200/2.8 was up in my office, when I
was buzzed by a vulture, so these were all shot with the 18-250. A
couple of them were hovering over the parking lot next door, so I
hiked up there for a few minutes to try to grab some shots. I'm not
really thrilled with any of them, though someone with better
photoshop-fu than me could probably do better. Shooting a dark bird
with backlighting against an overcast sky requires more dynamic range
than my camera has. It does seem that the technique is to set the
exposure just shy of clipping the sky on manual and hope for the best
on the bird.

For focus I did manual focus with the katz-eye, I may try AF-C rather
than AF-S at some time in the future. I also maybe should have tried
ISO 800 rather than 200.

Photographs are like sentences, the best ones have both subjects and verbs.
