Bridge cameras are high end point and shoot. My favorite of them is the FZ50 which handles like an SLR. But since they were only produced for a short while, and handle so nicely, the prices are staing frustratingly high. # # The K100d super and the ist series look very appealing to me. The photos they make look very nice. For most of the pictures I take, the camera body is by no means the limiting factor on the quality. # # Shake reduction is handy but not a compelling feature for me. I've # handheld shots up to one second in the past without any problems. # # I'm just looking for something I can get into without spending a lot # of money right now. How important is it that you stick with Pentax? I have found the best deals on Craigslist, but that assumes a nearby metropolitan area. Somebody gave away an SP500 & 4 lenses today. The only pentax dlsr on the lcoal one today is a DL for $375 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ele/1048047562.html If you can find something interesting in another area, maybe there'll be someone nearby that can look at if or you. # # ~Nick David Wright # http://pedalingprose.wordpress.com/ # # # # ----- Original Message ---- # > From: Larry Colen <[email protected]> # > To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List <[email protected]> # > Sent: Tuesday, February 24, 2009 4:04:39 PM # > Subject: Re: Looking for d-SLR body # > # > On Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 12:31:58PM -0800, Nick David Wright wrote: # > # > # # > # Looks like I'm going to start shooting for the local paper on an # > # occasional basis again, which means I'm going to need a digital # > # SLR. # > # > Depending on the work you're doing, you may be able to get by with a # > bridge camera. # > # > Craigslist in this area frequently has K100Dsupers for under $350 with # > kit lens.
