Having to use the aperture ring bothers ME because I find that, if anything
can be objected to in Pentax lens construction for SOME of their lenses,
it's the feel of the A-ring click stops. Many people simply don't like the
plastic A-rings. Also, the A-set button on one of my lenses broke (SMC-A
50mm F1.7) and when I successfully repaired it at my kitchen table I could
see the weak link in the A-set click stop construction (it's a plastic-melt
thing on that lens, if anyone is interested). After seeing that, I was VERY
HAPPY to avoid wear on my A-rings and use the wheel to set aperture on the
PZ-1p. I personally found it rapidly intuitive, and turning directions
never confused me for a moment. Also, I hold the cable release in my LEFT
hand, ready to shoot. Right-hand operation of the aperture set on PZ-1p
body was clearly helpful here. The MZ-S absolutely requires the left hand
on the A-ring, the other hand on the shutter release, cable or body, and who
wants the cable release in the right hand?
