Very well put, Adam.  That is one of the main reasons I chose not to
use it.  I already have software that deals with organization
directly at the OS level rather than this import part.  I don't want
to bother with the import and all my other packages work just fine
with the files in directories as I set them up.

The other reason is general speed - that includes the import steps.
Yes, someday I may get a new computer, but this one has done fine so
far with everything else I've used it for -which includes programming
for a living.

This is why I said that if you have no other software (except maybe
an editor) that Lightroom might be just the ticket for you, as it has
many more features than just Raw conversion.  It is more of a system
than a Raw convertor.
