I'm glad iPhoto is filling all your needs.
I don't use it much. I've had it crash the iPhoto library with large
numbers of files (I have somewhere on the order of 40,000 files in my
default LR catalog and over 90,000 in the compendium catalog I do
searches on occasionally).
But if it works for you, life is good. The most recent version I've
been using is from the iLife '08 set, haven't installed '09 yet.

Turns out I was wrong. When exporting, there's a little checkbox that
will add your title, caption and keywords to the IPTC fields of the
image file.
Granted, its functionality is very very limited, but probably all I
need.
I'm thrilled.
