Dave, Welcome. I also use a ZX-M. DOF preview is done by pushing the button located above the lens release button. It allows you to see what will be in focus at any given aperture.
And here's some rules that you must follow: #1 Don't part with your GIII QL17. If you must disobey rule one, I'll send you my mailing address. #2 Buy more lenses. That's the only way to be a fulfilled photographer. It doesn't matter howm any photos you take, or how good they might be.
