I've looked at this a number of times, but there was something vaguely
unsatisfying about it - couldn't put my finger on why, there was just
something missing.

Then I looked at Paul's reworking of it and it made all the difference!

I think yours is just too "flat".  The extra punch really shows off
the composition - it separates the trees from the grass and the
blowing grass from the rest of the grass and makes it all work.
