I vote for Brookline! My sister-in-law lives there and it's nice.
Better reputation than Jamaica Plain too.

I would tell you not to go to grad school...but I would be a hypocrite
 :-D  I reckon 5-6 years in a Ph.D. program should bridge the crisis
reasonably well. Just pick a fun subject!

BTW, do you have a snow shovel?  ;-)
