There is no SMCP-A version of this lens. It was sold under a number of
names (including Pentax-A) but the SMCP-A equivalent is the 70-210/4
which features a different optical design and is a much better
performer. There are some cases where it looks like the Takumars had
the same design (the 35-70 f3.5-4.5, the F 70-200) but this isn't one
of them.

Correct. I shouldn't use shorthand, but yes, it was SMC Pentax-A.
