The takumar-A 70-200mm F4 Macro lens ( subject lens ) is
NOT optically nor mechanically the same or even similar
to the SMCP-A70-210/4 lens I recommended. The takumar-A
does not have SMC coating but it's certainly NOT the same lens
otherwise as the SMCP-A70-210/4 without coatiing. Its a really
junky lens IMHO.

For a while in the mid 802, Pentax was marketing SMCP-A lenses as the
good
stuff, and they had a few lesser lenses carrying the Takumar name. This
is one of those lenses. I was told by a rep that the Takumar is
optically and mechanically identical
to the SMCP-A version of the lens with the exception of multicoating.
The SMCP-A lens is multicoated on every air/glass surface, the Takumar
is
multicoated on the front and rear elements only.
