Rick,

I don't have the answer to your question, but I would suggest that you
study for and take the test to get your actual European license or
permit.  Since you state that you've already rented in Germany, France
and the UK, I'm sure you've noticed all the differences yourself,  I
just moved to Germany, and I was surprised by all the rules that
differed here in Europe.
and whatever you do plan on doing, I highly recommend at least a
passing glance through a study guide or some such thing.  I was
surprised by all the signs that they use around here, not all of them
are obvious.  I hope you enjoy your trip!!!
