It's definitely a learning experience. I could make all sorts of
excuses, but to be honest the harshness of the lighting didn't even
occur to me. On future trips there, I think I'll change my MO to
spending more time on fewer photos. At least I hope so.

I was looking at my color histograms and basically had to shoot 2/3 to
1/3 stops under to keep from blowing out the red channel. Even though
I frequently monitored the histogam, to be honest getting the exposure
right on that one was probably just dumb luck. But, if that's what
it's takes, I'll take it.

I think John and Angel were more interested in taking their own photos
than in holding a shade for me.

I wonder if I could achieve at least some of the same by standing so
that the flower is in my shadow. Though with the breeze, I also wanted
all the shutter speed I could get.
