Note the XS is so badly crippled they probably couldn't move it at a
higher price(1.5fps in RAW? fuggedaboutit, even Canon junkies are
recommending that people avoid the XS). And I doubt they got a 70-300
IS for $200, more likely the 75-300 IS (a real dog of a lens).

That kit does appear to be worth the $450 they payed.
