Not to mention it was probably a "clearance" price because it wouldn't sell. It's not the kind of camera most Target shoppers are looking for, since there's actually a viewfinder you have to use and you can't easily hold it out at arms length to take self portraits of yourself and twenty other of your little friends all jammed into the picture frame.

Note the XS is so badly crippled they probably couldn't move it at a
higher price(1.5fps in RAW? fuggedaboutit, even Canon junkies are
recommending that people avoid the XS). And I doubt they got a 70-300
IS for $200, more likely the 75-300 IS (a real dog of a lens).

That kit does appear to be worth the $450 they payed.
