Hi all,
Back from Pentax Day, I can give you my impression of a much
improved AF compared to the standard SAFOX VIII we all know.
I've not been allowed to shoot actual pictures (the K-7 there was
still a pre-production camera, running firmware 0.20), but I could
play with the camera and the overall feeling has been positive.
The only thing I truly don't like is they have inverted the concept
of the four-way controller.
Old: direct control of AF points and shortcut to balance/shooting/
ISO/flash settings (second function) via Fn button.
New: direct access to settings I don't use so often and indirect
access to moving the AF points (via the OK button), which I often
change all the time. Odd for my way of shooting.
A firmware update allowing the customization of this operation is in
order!!!
I agree. That arrangement makes me unhappy. I constantly shift the
focus point with the side of my thumb. It's part of my shooting
routine. Having to push a button before I set the focus point will be
a problem for me. FIX THAT PENTAX!!!
