Tim, I think with the SMC coatings, they are virtually indistingushable from the A series lenses, maybe even the FA's. Without the SMC coatings, get a good lens hood! The SMC is best for reducing flare in backlighting. I think the Super Takumars are the series before the SMC Takumars. Regards, Bob S.
