He had it completely wrong. Consumer Reports recommends all Toyotas and no GM cars. For the most part, they're apologists for any car made outside the U.S.

Toyotas are manufactured in Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas & West Virginia. They have a new manufacturing plant under construction in Mississippi, with a second one on hold due to the current economic situation.

Toyota has joint ventures with GM in California and Subaru in Indiana.

They also have manufacturing facilities in Canada and Mexico just like the U.S. "Big 3".
